BMS Spotlight on Learning
This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Connie Oswald, Mrs. Ouellette, Mrs. Scott, and Ms. Taglione for their kindness and collegiality. Last week, Mrs. Oswald Mrs. Ouellette, Mrs. Scott, and Ms. Tags covered lunch duty for their allied art colleagues. This simple gesture goes a long way. Bike Safety:
Barrington Middle School is fortunate to have nearly 350 bikers ride to school each day. This truly is a testament to our greater community! My number one goal/priority is student safety and today I ask you for your help. If your child bikes to school can you please remind them of the following:
To wear a helmet at all times. This is a state law.
To stick to the sidewalks as they bike onto/off campus. Biking on the parking lot, over grass, in the driveway, and the street is dangerous.
To abide all traffic laws. It is important that bikers stop at lights, signs, and streets prior to crossing.
To cross at designated crosswalks and wait to be cross or when it is safe to cross.
Over the past few days I have received a number of emails expressing concerns of bike safety. As a school community we will continue to do the following:
Remind students of bike safety and bike laws.
Speak directly to students who are not meeting our bike expectations.
Continue to evaluate our pedestrian patterns on and off campus.
Seeking SRO support for the lemonade/ice cream trucks.
I am confident as we transition into the next phase of construction our traffic and pedestrian patterns will improve. As always, I welcome your feedback, questions and concerns.
